Yoga Philosophy Chanting Sanskrit

We are happy to welcome Laskmisha Bhat to Almaty! Teacher of Chanting, Philosophy and Sanskrit from Sharath Yoga Centre, coming to Almaty in August 2026.

Lakshmisha Bhat

Born into a humble Brahmin family in the village of Madageri near Gokarna, Lakshmisha Bhat has been closely associated with Guruji Sharath Jois for nearly two decades.

With a deep commitment to the study of Ashtanga Yoga, Lakshmisha undertook his asana practice under the guidance of Guruji Sharath Jois. Alongside his yoga practice, he pursued rigorous academic studies, receiving the Vidwan title in Advaita Vedanta philosophy from a Sanskrit College and completing his Master’s degree in Sanskrit at the University of Mysore in 2006.

In 2003, responding to the growing interest among students at KPJAYI in understanding the philosophical and cultural foundations of yoga, Lakshmisha was invited by Guruji Sharath Jois to begin teaching Sanskrit, chanting, and yoga-related theory in Mysore. Since then, he has played a vital role in supporting the deeper understanding of yoga beyond physical practice.

Over the years, Lakshmisha has taught countless sincere yoga aspirants. He firmly believes that yoga is incomplete without a clear understanding of its philosophical roots and cultural context, and he is dedicated to making this knowledge accessible to all who seek it.

He is currently a teacher of Sanskrit, Chanting, and Yoga Philosophy at the Sharath Yoga Center (SYC) in Mysore, India.
