Ashtanga Yoga Almaty

is an Ashtanga Yoga shala that offers daily Ashtanga Yoga classes in the traditional "Mysore style". Classes are suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. Students receive individual attention and gradually learn the sequence at a pace that feels right for them. This way, the practice naturally develops into a meditative flow guided by the breath. We invite everyone to study and practice yoga with us in Almaty. Classes are held in Russian and English.






Classes

"Mysore Style" is a class format where each student practices a series of asanas at their own pace. Students receive individual attention and support from the teacher, who helps to develop their practice. New asanas are added gradually as practitioners master the previous ones. This approach allows development in accordance with each practitioner's capabilities and needs.

"Led Class" is a format where the teacher guides you through the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. The teacher counts the vinyasas, sets the breathing rhythm, and calls out asanas in Sanskrit. The class flows continuously from start to finish. To practice comfortably in the Led class, you need to know the asana sequence well. For this reason, beginners should start with Mysore classes.

Marzhan Shotay

Marzhan is one of two Authorized Ashtanga Yoga teachers in Kazakhstan who received the blessing to teach from Guruji Sharath Jois. She is a dedicated practitioner who has been practicing for the last 7 years. She used to go to Mysore every year to study with Guruji Sharath Jois (sometimes twice a year) While in Mysore, she also studied philosophy, Sanskrit, and the Yoga Sutras with Lakshmisha Bhat, further deepening her appreciation of yoga practice.

Her teaching is based on Paramparā — the traditional lineage of knowledge passed directly from teacher to student. She shares the method as it was taught in Mysore, honoring the principles and structure of this living tradition.







Aziza Tankibayeva

Aziza is the founder of "Materia Body&Soul Wellness Center", Ashtanga yoga practitioner, Hatha Yoga teacher, managing director of a transport company, and a mother of three children.

Her journey in yoga began in 2011. Aziza has trained and attended seminars with masters from different countries, including: Madina Tanikeyeva , Leonid Lanin, Daria Sokolovskaya, Anna Guryeva, Mikhail Boyaryshnikov, Ty Landrum , Jan Brysku. Since 2022, she has devoted herself to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga under the guidance of Sofia Elfimova.

For her, Ashtanga Yoga is one of the most refined systems of practice that, through the body, leads to self-awareness, the discovery of one’s Dharma and the path of following it—finding in this process both Joy and Happiness.









Karina Tyan

Karina is an Ashtanga yoga practitioner and teacher. She has been practicing since 2021 and has studied the method with various Authorized teachers such as Sandi Rakhimbayeva, Heather Serna, Xinia Alderson, Boonchu Tanti, Sofia Elfimova, and Manuel Ferreira, and Certified Teacher Harmony Slater.

She now continues to deepen her journey under the mentorship of Tara Mitra, Dr. Rob, Dr. Vigneshwar Bhat, and Dr. Padmini, along with an ongoing practice with Sofia Elfimova. Her formal training includes further studies in anatomy, biomechanics, and nutrition. Karina approaches yoga as a balance of tradition and continuous learning, blending practice, research, and teaching together into one living path.









Dinara Shin

Dinara is an Ashtanga practitioner, Hatha Yoga teacher and entrepreneur. She has been on her yoga path since 2015, studying with respected schools and teachers around the world: •Shriram Yog Prashikashan & Anusandhan Society, Rishikesh, India – Traditional Yoga Teacher Training, 200 hours •Yoga Vidya Gurukul Pradnya, Almaty – Yoga Teacher Training •Fundamentals of Yoga Methodology with Olga Uzhegova •Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series Workshop with Sonya Elfimova
